Reminder call for nominations and applications
Sheppard Award – nomination deadline 31 May 2025
The Norman Sheppard Award is presented annually by the IRDG to recognise an individual who has significantly advanced the field of vibrational spectroscopy in academia or industry, for example through research, teaching/mentoring, or development of instrumentation/techniques. Nominees must be a member of the IRDG, and will have clearly demonstrated sustained support for the aims and activities of the group. The awardee must be available to receive the award in person at the IRDG Christmas meeting, which is held in London in December.

Chalmers and Dent Award& - application deadline extended to 14 April 2025
The Chalmers & Dent Student Travel Award was established to recognise and support an outstanding PhD student to present their research to an international audience at the annual SciX meeting (this year in Covington, Kentucky, October 2025). The award consists of a guaranteed oral presentation in an IRDG-organised SciX session, and £500 towards travel to attend the conference.
Please note that in order to be eligible, the candidate must have attended a meeting of the IRDG in the 3 years prior to the year of the award, and still be a registered PhD student at the time of the conference presentation.

Francis Dunstan Award – application deadline 31 May 2025
The Francis Dunstan Travel Award was established to recognise and support an outstanding PhD student to present their research to an international audience at the major international conference on vibrational spectroscopy each year, which in 2025 will be ICAVS in Xiamen, China (December). The Award will consist of £500 towards travel to attend the conference.
Please note that in order to be eligible, the candidate must have attended a meeting of the IRDG in the 3 years prior to the year of the award, and still be a registered PhD student at the time of the conference presentation.
